about Act3

Act3 Playhouse is new to Sandy Springs but the founding artistic team is anything but new to the theatre world! Collectively, five talented women, who share a passion for the performing arts and young people, joined together over 10 years ago and worked with middle and high school students in local schools to produce top quality musical theatre. The "Drama Mamas," as they are affectionately known, dreamed of a permanent theatre space.

In 2009, the founders, Board of Directors and a legion of volunteers transformed a vacant warehouse into what is now an intimate, state-of-the-art, black box theatre with year-round performances of Broadway musicals, dramas, new works and diverse educational offerings through the Act3 Avick Conservatory.

Act3's mission is to "inspire performers, support positive values and enrich the arts community by producing professional-level performances" with an emphasis on the creation of new works; supporting emerging artists and directors; and creating exceptional performing opportunities for all who grace our stage – youth and adults, alike.

We believe
  • There are no limits to what can be accomplished through creativity, hard work and talent.
  • Our commitment to artistic excellence and individual expression will allow all performers, young and old, to grow in the art of theatre and as people.
  • Our stories told through music or dialogue, fanciful or true, funny or solemn, speak to all and teach life lessons while entertaining.
  • Everyone on our Act3 stage has a moment to shine!

Act3 Playhouse is easily accessible from all of metropolitan Atlanta. It is located in Sandy Springs Plaza, behind Trader Joe's, with free and plentiful parking. The theatre is surrounded by a vibrant and supportive community of shops, restaurants and businesses.

Come to the Plaza and follow the Act3 signs to the "stars!"
